PROGRAMME MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Details

  • Salary Range: Grade 3 (£28,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience)
  • Employment Classification: Fixed-Term (13–15 months) – Maternity Cover
  • No of Hours: 37.5 hrs /week
  • Probationary Period: 5 months
  • Location: Remote (UK) / occasional travel/overnight stays as required.
  • Reports To: Director of Member Success and Impact

The Role

We are looking for an organised, proactive and relationship-focused Programme Manager to own the end-to-end operational management of MSDUK's portfolio of business support programmes, working closely with colleagues, corporate partners, suppliers, facilitators and external stakeholders to ensure every programme delivers an outstanding participant experience and measurable impact.

Working under the direction of the Director of Member Success & Impact, you will translate agreed programme plans into high-quality operational delivery, taking ownership of planning, coordination, stakeholder management, reporting and continuous improvement.

This role combines programme management, stakeholder engagement, operational delivery and continuous improvement. You'll thrive if you enjoy taking ownership, solving problems, building relationships and making things happen.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning & Management

  • Own the end-to-end operational management of MSDUK's programme portfolio, ensuring they are planned, coordinated and delivered successfully.
  • Develop detailed delivery plans, timelines and project documentation.
  • Ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget and to a consistently high standard.
  • Identify, manage and escalate programme risks and issues, implementing appropriate mitigation plans where required.
  • Continuously review programme effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Programme Delivery

  • Manage all operational aspects of programme delivery, with occasional session facilitation.
  • Coordinate workshops, webinars, networking sessions and learning events.
  • Manage relationships with facilitators, speakers and delivery partners to ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Ensure programme materials, resources and communications are prepared and distributed on time.
  • Oversee the operational delivery of virtual and in-person programmes and events, providing facilitation where appropriate.

Participant Recruitment & Engagement

  • Develop and implement recruitment plans alongside Marketing and Member Success colleagues.
  • Manage participant applications and selection processes.
  • Maintain regular communication before, during and after programmes.
  • Foster strong engagement across participant and alumni communities.
  • Capture participant stories and case studies that demonstrate programme impact.

Stakeholder & Partnership Management

  • Build positive working relationships with corporate partners, funders, facilitators and delivery partners.
  • Act as the primary operational lead and key contact for programme participants, facilitators, partners and funders.
  • Provide regular updates, evaluation reports and impact summaries.
  • Work collaboratively across MSDUK to maximise programme participation and value.

Performance & Impact

  • Monitor programme participation, engagement and completion rates.
  • Collect evaluation data and participant feedback.
  • Own programme performance reporting, ensuring accurate monitoring, analysis and reporting against agreed KPIs.
  • Prepare regular reports, impact summaries and recommendations for the Director of Member Success & Impact, the Senior Leadership Team and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve programme quality and participant experience.

Financial Management

  • Manage programme budgets, monitor expenditure and ensure accurate financial reporting, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Raise invoices and support participant payment processes where appropriate.
  • Track programme spend and contribute to financial reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve programme processes and systems.
  • Contribute ideas that enhance efficiency, quality and participant experience.
  • Support the development of new programmes and services aligned to MSDUK's strategy.

General Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to support wider organisational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate programme records using CRM and internal systems.
  • Undertake training and professional development relevant to the role.
  • Contribute to wider organisational priorities and undertake additional responsibilities, where reasonably required, to support the successful delivery of MSDUK's objectives.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Experience

  • Experience managing multiple projects or programmes simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating events, workshops or business support programmes.
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience managing budgets, reporting against KPIs and producing programme performance reports.
  • Experience producing high-quality reports and programme documentation.
  • Experience using CRM systems (HubSpot) and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook/PowerPoint/Excel).
