Project Manager - Arb Utility

Project Manager – Arb Utility division (Permanent)

Location: Field-based in the East Midlands (Derby & Coventry) Salary: Competitive Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday)

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a Project Manager to support the Contract Delivery Manager within Ground Control’s Arb Utility division. Your role will focus on managing a programme of tree works around power lines and pylons across the East Midlands region.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Overseeing programme delivery for self, contractor KPIs, and on-site tree cutting teams.
  • Balancing fieldwork (3–4 days per week) with home-based office duties.
  • Ensuring adherence to high standards in safety, environment, quality, customer service, and profitability.
  • Driving consistency, efficiency, and innovation to reinforce Ground Control as industry leaders.

Field Work Expectations

  • Must hold a valid driving licence to travel to rural client sites regularly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure delivery of project outputs meets safety, quality, budget, timelines, profitability, and client satisfaction targets.
  • Maintain smooth communication with the Office-based Project Coordinator, ensuring efficient project workflows.
  • Provide timely, transparent reports to your Contract Delivery Manager.
  • Ensure assigned tree cutting crews remain productively utilised across contracts.
  • Update and manage work programmes, checklists, and team schedules.
  • Resolve project delays and client consents efficiently.

Requirements & Skills

This role is ideal for candidates with basic fieldwork experience in:

  • Arboriculture (Arb) industry, or
  • Field-based roles – Surveyors, Installation Engineers, or ex-Armed Forces transitioning into this sector.

While specialised Arb or project management experience is valued, it is participation friendly—transferable skills matter!

Essential Skills

  • Strong negotiation and influence abilities to deliver results.
  • Proficient IT skills, adaptable to project management tools.
  • Excellent team management, organisation, and prioritisation skills to handle complex workflows.
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to structured service excellence.
  • Valid driving licence (full training provided by Ground Control).
