Project Manager – Defence Infrastructure Delivery

The Role: Project Manager – Defence Infrastructure Delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Projects End-to-End: Oversee Billable Works projects from initiation to completion across the Ministry of Defence (MoD) estate.
  • Stringent Compliance & Safety: Ensure economic delivery, meeting health, safety, environmental (HSE), and MoD sustainability targets.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives, site managers, and customer support teams to align on scope, priorities, and timelines.
  • Document & Data Management: Manage project documentation leveraging SharePoint and Maximo, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Supply Chain Leadership: Direct qualified and experienced operatives, verify risk assessments and method statements, and mitigate contract-related risks.
  • Administration of Experience: Be the primary point for escalating end-user issues and complaints, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Financial Acumen: Set work plans and budgets, making cost-conscious commercial decisions while balancing performance and value.
  • Proactive Improvement: Drive performance management and continuous improvement for successful project outcomes.

Who You Are & What You Bring

Essential Criteria

  • Proven Project Leadership: Experience in leading operational teams, prioritising tasks, and delivering KPIs in defence or infrastructure contexts.
  • Qualifications:
    • HNC/D in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
    • Recognised health and safety certification (e.g., SMSTS).
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, CAFM tools).
  • Security Requirements:
    • Valid UK full driving licence.
    • Eligibility for SC security clearance (Standard).

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional Memberships: Associate membership of APM, RICS, or MCIOB.
  • Additional Certifications: Asbestos, legionella, or authorised person responsibilities.
  • Technical Depth: Familiarity with CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) capabilities.
