Project Manager - CMA Regulatory Response - Part Time.

Senior Project Manager – CMA Response Lead

Location: West Midlands / North West Type: Part-time | Ad hoc | 4–5 days per month (flexible)


About the Role

Our leading client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Project Manager to spearhead a high-impact business-wide response to Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) information requests.

As the central point for complex regulatory work, you will:

  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs across multiple areas of the business
  • Ensure submissions are accurate, fully evidenced, compliant, and on time
  • Engage closely with senior leaders to shape regulatory responses under scrutiny

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Delivery

  • Develop and manage a detailed workstream plan, including timelines, owners, risks, and dependencies
  • Drive on-time delivery against statutory deadlines
  • Establish and maintain a central document repository with a version control framework

Managing CMA Requests

  • Review formal CMA Notices and map requirements to internal stakeholders
  • Track all requests, prioritise tasks, and proactively chase and escalate delays where needed
  • Clarify regulatory expectations for cross-functional teams
  • Facilitate sign-off processes and ensure final submissions meet all deadlines

Quality Assurance & Governance

  • Guarantee accuracy, completeness, and consistency in all submissions
  • Maintain robust governance, including:
    • Audit trails of sources and approvals
    • Version control and documentation standards
    • Confirming signed-off approvals from relevant leadership

Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare briefing papers for CMA engagement meetings
  • Produce executive and board-level updates
  • Deliver regular progress updates to senior sponsors

  • Proven project management experience in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
  • Experience delivering complex regulatory, legal, or data-intensive submissions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including senior leadership engagement
  • Exceptional organisational ability with laser focus on detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight dead lines

Desirable (Bonus)

  • Regulatory, compliance, or legal programme experience
  • Previous involvement in regulatory governance, audit, or government engagement
  • Exposure to working in healthcare, consumer services, or utility sectors
