Senior Project Manager – CMA Response (Part-Time, Ad Hoc Days)

Location: West Midlands / North West Working Pattern: Part-time, ad hoc days (4–5 days per month flexibility)


About the Role

Our leading client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Project Manager to deliver a critical, business-wide response to Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) information requests. This is a high-impact role working centrally within a fast-paced, high-profile regulatory workstream.

You’ll oversee coordinated, accurate, compliant, and timely submissions in strict adherence to statutory deadlines, collaborating closely with senior leaders to shape the business’s regulatory response.


Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Delivery

  • Develop and manage a detailed workstream plan, including timelines, owners, risks, and dependencies
  • Ensure delivery is aligned with statutory deadlines
  • Establish a centralised document repository with robust version control

Managing CMA Requests

  • Review formal CMA notices and map requirements to internal stakeholders
  • Track progress across all requests, escalating dependencies and unresolved tasks
  • Clarify regulatory requirements for cross-functional teams
  • Ensure submissions are on time, with appropriate review and sign-off cycles

Quality Assurance & Governance

  • Guarantee submissions are accurate, fully evidenced, and consistent
  • Maintain governance standards, including:
    • Audit trails for sources and approvals
    • Version control and documentation compliance
  • Secure signed-off approvals from relevant leadership

Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare briefing papers and meeting packs for CMA engagements
  • Provide executive and Board-level updates
  • Deliver progressive reporting to senior sponsors

Essential Requirements

  • Proven project management experience in fast-paced, cross-functional environments
  • Experience delivering complex regulatory, legal, or data-driven submissions
  • Strong stakeholder management, including senior leadership engagement
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Desirable

  • Experience in regulatory, compliance, legal, or audit programmes
  • Knowledge of regulatory/government engagement (especially in healthcare or consumer services sectors)
