Reference number: JR100851

Closing Date: 31st July 2026

Description of role:

As Project Manager, you will provide specialist project management support to engineers, business developers, and commercial officers, ensuring that JIP and COL proposals and projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, time, and budget. You will lead the development of standardised workflows for JIP and COL activities, integrating established project management methodologies with TWI’s internal processes. Working across multiple teams—including INN, SPG, CMG, and technical sections—you will be a central point of coordination and the primary contact for external stakeholders, including commercial partners and funding bodies.

A key focus of the role will be the management of laboratory-based activities, where quality, time, and financial risks are most significant. You will also support the MPM Team Manager in enhancing project management capability across the Technology Directorate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver JIP and COL projects to agreed time, cost, and quality.
  • Support technology focal points and project leads throughout prospecting, bidding, and delivery.
  • Develop and implement standardised workflows for JIP and COL proposals and project execution.
  • Collaborate with SPG to lead high-value JIP bids and support risk assessment during proposal development.
  • Work with INN and the Project Manager: CRP to support COL proposals aligned with the TWI Technology Roadmap.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Manage project change and maintain close engagement with laboratory managers to ensure resource alignment.
  • Systematically identify, assess, and manage project risks.
  • Provide impartial advice during bid/no-bid reviews for JIP opportunities.
  • Support the development of successful research bids that contribute to TWI’s strategic roadmap.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of project management processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Technology Directorate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
