Project Manager

Summary of the Role

Project Manager (HeavyLift & Transport Projects)

Location: Mammoet offices in Thornaby, Teesside

A full-time, permanent role with competitive salary and excellent benefits, including:

Core Responsibility: Manage all aspects of HeavyLift and transport projects—people, contracts, risk, planning, execution, and controlling—while ensuring compliance with internal standards, systems, and local legislation. Regular travel to project sites across the UK (and occasionally overseas) is expected.

Reporting to: Head of Projects


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contract Management: Assess and study agreements with customers and (sub)contractors.

  • Project Planning: Develop execution plans, establish project structures, and coordinate internal/external processes aligned with internal standards.

  • Operations: Oversee and direct operational activities according to Project Management Plans and contract terms.

  • SHE-Q Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards; set a safety example on-site.

  • People Management: Lead, motivate, and support both field and office staff using management tools and guidelines.

  • Project Control: Monitor financials, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies per guidelines.

  • Reporting: Provide detailed project insights via qualitative/quantitative reports, analyses, and ad-hoc updates.


What You’ll Need

Essential Requirements:

  • Expert-level Project Management experience in:

    • Project preparation, planning, execution, and controlling
    • Quality assurance, risk management, and contract negotiation
    • Financials (costs & budgets), procurement, and conflict resolution
  • Fluent verbal and written English

  • Certified Project Management Qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, etc.)

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally within one or more:

    • Civil engineering
    • Construction
    • Renewables sector
    • Oil & gas
    • Offshore
    • Ports
    • Mining

  • Degree (Bachelor’s or above) in a technical or operations-related discipline

  • Full UK driving licence (essential for site visits)

  • Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice when required.
