About The Role
At Balfour Beatty, we're shaping the UK's energy future by delivering critical power infrastructure projects that connect communities and support the transition to net zero. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – OHL to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team on the BTNO project in Assington, Suffolk.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, sustainable and successful delivery of Overhead Line projects from planning and design through to commissioning and handover. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and quality requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on a nationally significant infrastructure project while working with one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure organisations
What you'll be doing
- Lead the delivery of OHL projects from inception through to completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
- Manage project resources, programmes, risks, opportunities and commercial performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Lead project reviews, reporting activities and governance processes.
- Drive a culture of Zero Harm and ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met.
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate procurement activities.
- Lead and develop high-performing project teams through coaching, mentoring and effective leadership.
- Ensure robust planning, change control and project controls are in place.
- Oversee project budgets, contract compliance and commercial outcomes.
Who we're looking for
The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential
- Experience of working on a variety of project types
- Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
- In depth understanding and practical experience of standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
- Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
- Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving
- Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team
- Discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence
- Sponsor and promote project diversity and inclusion
- Recognise and drive personal development with a learning mindset
- Member of a professional management body i.e. APM
- Proficient on O365
- Holds a current driving licence

The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:
- Formal qualification in project management or equivalent experience
- CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent
