Environmental Project Manager – New Opportunities

About the Role

We’re scaling our Environmental Project Management team and invite ambitious Project Managers to join our dynamic Project, Programme Management & PMO community.

In this role, you’ll drive critical delivery of multi-disciplinary environmental projects, collaborating closely with Senior Project Managers and Technical Leads to ensure safety, scope adherence, and budget discipline. Gain exposure to a varied and impactful project portfolio across the UK, supporting both public and private sector clients.

Our team covers PMO, Project Controls, Project Management, and Project Directorships, supporting projects across every lifecycle stage. You’ll lead smaller initiatives while scaling into major programmes, fostering growth and resilience in your career.

Beyond delivery, there’s room to mentor junior colleagues, shape team development, and build our Environmental Project Management capability for the future.

This is a platform to hone core project management & PMO expertise, boost confidence, and progress toward Senior Environmental Project Manager. Embedded in a collaborative team prioritising your development, you’ll have the space to learn, progress, and thrive.

Our work ranges from nationally significant programmes like:

  • National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade
  • Heathrow Expansion
  • East–West Rail
  • Sizewell C to portfolio projects shaping communities.

Thrive on structure and efficiency and mastering tools like cut-and-ray —a refreshing spreadsheets-with-a-purpose mindset.


Your New Role: Key Responsibilities

▶ Project Development▶ Operational Oversight
- Define project requirements, scope, resourcing, programme, and budget for successful execution.- Monitor progress, timelines, budgets, and forecasts to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Develop and maintain clear project documentation (plans, cost forecasts, risk registers, schedules).- Track daily operational costs, time management, and financial forecasting.
- Transfer accountability for smaller projects; support senior teams on complex deliverables.- Enforce health and safety requirements for fieldwork, securing internal approvals.
- Manage contract administration and compliance.
▶ Risk & Change Management▶ Collaboration & Liaison
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks and changes, working with technical teams to align with scope/contract.- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, develop stakeholders, and secure partnerships/supplier relationships.

▶ Environmental Leadership▶ Stakeholder Relations
- Champion sustainability, net-zero ambitions, and future-ready solutions within projects.- Build trusted relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Represent the Environment and Consents team as a key point of contact.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Competence

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager within:
    • Environmental or sustainability sectors
    • PMO/project management environments
  • Sound grasp of programme management (WBS, dependencies, critical path) and tool proficiency (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Commercial acumen: Budget management, performance tracking, and change control experience essential. Familiarity with NEC3/4 contracts is advantageous.
  • Confident written and verbal communicator who excels in stakeholder engagement and complex information dissemination.
