About the Role

We are expanding our Environmental Project Management team and are eager to welcome new Project Managers into our Project, Programme Management, and PMO community.

The Opportunity

  • Play a critical role in delivering multi-disciplinary environmental projects
  • Work alongside Senior Project Managers and Technical Leads to ensure projects stay safe, on-budget, and on-track
  • Gain exposure to a varied portfolio across the UK, supporting public and private sector clients

This role is designed to help you build essential project management and PMO skills, gain confidence, and progress into a Senior Environmental Project Manager position over time.

Your Responsibilities

As our Assistant Environmental Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Project Proposal Development

    • Support in defining requirements, scope, resources, programme schedules, and budgets for successful project delivery.
  • Project Documentation & Planning

    • Create and maintain clear project plans, cost forecasts, risk registers, and schedules
    • Take initiative on smaller projects and collaborate with senior leaders on larger, complex initiatives.
  • Progress & Budget Management

    • Monitor daily project performance
    • Track budgeting, time, forecasts, and spend to ensure alignment with project goals
    • Keep projects on track and within budget

  • Health & Safety Compliance

    • Ensure internal approvals for site visits and health and safety compliance
  • Contract & Administrative Support

    • Assist in contract management and project compliance activities
  • Change & Risk Management

    • Proactively identify project risks and manage change with cross-functional teams
  • Stakeholder Coordination

    • Facilitate collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams, partners, and suppliers
  • Sustainability & Environmental Leadership

    • Champion environmental, net-zero, and sustainability goals within projects
  • Relationship Building

    • Develop strong client and stakeholder relationships
    • Represent the Environment and Consents team effectively

Your Profile: Key Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Experience in environmental/sustainability project management roles, such as Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager.
  • A strong understanding of programme management principles, tools like Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and work breakdown structures.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience in budget management, change control, and cost forecasting.
  • Proficiency in negotiating Professional Services Contracts (e.g., NEC3/4) is advantageous.
  • Confident communication skills—both written and verbal—for clear stakeholder updates.
  • Interest in strategic development—holding or working toward professional qualifications such as PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, MIEMA, or MRICS.
  • A passion for environmental impact and sustainable practices.
