Project Manager
Technical Project Manager – Farnborough (Permanent, or Hybrid)
Location: Farnborough, UK, with flexibility to work from home based on business needs Salary: £58,400 – £74,900 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamical Technical Project Manager to collaborate with our Senior Programme Manager for a government client project. This full-time, permanent role involves:
- Managing project delivery schedules, changes, and new business initiatives.
- Acting as a key liaison between technical teams, stakeholders, and clients.
- Ensuring adherence to project milestones, KPIs, and SLA compliance while maintaining high operational standards.
Candidates must have (or be prepared to undergo) UK SC (Security Clearance). Successful applicants must be UK citizens and long-term UK residents.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Own accountability for project and operational deliverables, ensuring teams meet scope, budget, and timeline objectives.
- Provide clear direction on task execution, optimising efficiency while maintaining quality.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors for seamless project execution.
- Work closely with technical leads to plan and deliver complex technical solutions.
- Participate in and facilitate technical discussions within the programme team.
- Manage project scopes, objectives, and stakeholder alignment.
Resource & Risk Management
- Ensure resource availability and allocation to meet project demands.
- Apply verification techniques to oversee changes in scope, schedule, and budget.
- Identify and escalate risks, and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular risk management assessments.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain positive client relationships.
- Foster strong working relationships with external vendors and internal staff.

Compliance & Documentation
- Create and update comprehensive project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Government and contractual obligations.
Essential Requirements
- Technical background (e.g., software development, testing, or engineering).
- Demonstrated technical collaboration skills with the ability to liaise with subject-matter experts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills – comfortable dealing directly with clients and shutting all tiers of stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
✔ Proven project and task work package delivery experience. ✔ Familiarity with SAFe Agile and Waterfall project methodologies. ✔ Experience in negotiation, influencing, and team leadership. ✔ Understanding of engineering principles in programmatic contexts. ✔ Finance and commercial awareness, including budgeting, cost tracking, and resource alignment. ✔ Data-driven decision-making and issue-resolution in dynamic environments.
Hard Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Technical aptitude in software development/test frameworks (bonus for business intelligence or systems engineering exposure).
Clearance Requirements
