Project Manager – Health Sector (London Real Estate) Turner & Townsend

About the Role

Turner & Townsend is a global professional services firm specialising in project management, advisory, engineering, and property consulting. We are on a powerful growth trajectory as we commit to redefining industry standards and driving impactful outcomes for our clients, people, and society.

We are seeking a Paper for a Project Manager with healthcare sector experience to join our London Real Estate team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality project management across the whole project lifecycle—from feasibility studies to handover—while working flexibly on live projects. You'll lead small to medium-sized complex commissions and support key new build schemes within London’s dynamic health and education sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning & Resource Management:

    • Plan, secure, and allocate resources efficiently, applying optimal tools and methodologies.
  • Team Leadership & Governance:

    • Lead and manage project and programme teams, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and delegation strategies.
  • Risk & Issue Management:

    • Identify and proactively manage risks using structured mitigation and contingency planning.
    • Maintain adherence to project objectives despite disruptions.
  • Delivery & Compliance:

    • Oversee projects on time, on budget, and within scope, applying robust project management standards (e.g., PMBOK, Agile, hybrid approaches).
    • Ensure alignment with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations, including NEC contracts.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Foster strong, transparent relationships with stakeholders, facilitating open communication and collaborative decision-making.
    • Act as an ambassador for projects, presenting progress reports and key outcomes effectively.
  • Metrics & Reporting:

    • Track and analyse progress using KPIs, timelines, and performance indicators.
    • Generate meaningful insights for stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.
  • Impact Assessment:

    • Evaluate project benefits realisation, using data-driven methods to ensure outcomes meet business goals.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Post-graduate professional qualification in project management (e.g., PRINCE2®, PMP®, APMG, ACP), with international recognition.
  • Preferably a degree in construction management, business, architecture, engineering, or related fields.

Experience & Expertise

  • Specialise in the healthcare sector, with hands-on experience delivering projects such as hospitals, clinics, research facilities, or related environments.
  • Deep knowledge of NEC (New Engineering Contract) terms, including divergence and compensation event management.
  • Commercial acumen to manage budgets responsibly and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Familiarity with UK Department of Health and Social Care management frameworks and methodologies.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex projects.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational abilities to balance multiple deadlines.
  • Proven contract administration skills to oversee clauses, legal risks, and negotiation intricacies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Embrace adaptive project environments, balancing consistency with agile insights.
