Project Manager

Location: London & Various UK Project Sites

About the Company

Our client is a specialist joinery and interior fit-out contractor delivering bespoke manufacturing and installation packages for high-end commercial, hospitality, residential and public sector projects across the UK. Working closely with leading main contractors, architects and consultants, they manage projects from design through manufacture and installation to successful completion.

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of one or more bespoke joinery and interior fit-out projects. Reporting to the Projects Director, you will be responsible for managing projects from contract award through to practical completion, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and the highest quality standards while maintaining excellent client relationships.

You will work closely with internal design, production and commercial teams, alongside site management, subcontractors and main contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple joinery and interior fit-out projects from contract award through to practical completion.
  • Lead contract start-up meetings, ensuring project objectives, responsibilities and programmes are clearly established.
  • Develop and manage detailed project programmes alongside design, commercial and production teams.
  • Coordinate design, procurement, manufacturing and installation activities to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Chair regular project review meetings with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractor performance to ensure programme, quality and safety requirements are met.
  • Monitor procurement schedules and long-lead items to minimise programme risk.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage project variations, change control and financial implications.
  • Ensure all additional works are correctly instructed and commercially managed.
  • Review project performance against programme, cost and quality objectives.
  • Support tendering activities where required.
  • Ensure Site Managers receive full project handovers, including programmes, drawings, specifications and scope of works.
  • Monitor site progress and provide support to Site Managers throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure snagging and project close-out are effectively managed.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Projects Director regarding project progress, risks and client feedback.
  • Deliver exceptional levels of client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Manager within joinery, fit-out or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of bespoke joinery manufacturing and installation processes.
  • Experience delivering commercial, hospitality, residential or interior fit-out projects.
  • Excellent understanding of project planning, programming and resource management.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of variations and change management.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Strong leadership and motivational ability.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and quality.
