About The Role
Balfour Beatty has a fantastic opportunity for Project Managers to join our high-performing Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, leading HV Projects in the Aberdeen area.
This is a unique chance to be part of a critical infrastructure project supporting the UK’s energy transition — all while working within a collaborative and expert team, where flexible working is embraced and career development is a priority.
What you'll be doing
- Hold periodic project reviews and update the Digital Briefcase
- Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
- Prepare and present both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
- Aptitude and ability to understand technical answers / explanations
- Management of teams to ensure works are deliverable
- Ability to interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables
- Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall business strategy
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
- Carry out Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives
- Lead Accident/Incident Investigations
- Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement actions
- Review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS
- Develop H&S plan and ensure it is treated as a live document
- Ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce
- Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations
- Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management.

Who we're looking for
- Experience of working on a variety of project types
- Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
- In depth understanding and practical experience of standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
- Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
- Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving
- Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team
- Discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence
- Sponsor and promote project diversity and inclusion
- Recognise and drive personal development with a learning mindset
- Member of a professional management body i.e. APM
- Proficient on O365
- Holds a current driving licence
