Project Manager
Project Manager (EPC Substation – 400kV) – UK
About the Company
We are seeking a Project Manager with extensive EPC substation (400kV) experience and strong P&L accountability to lead major infrastructure projects across the UK. This role combines financial oversight, contract strategy, project delivery and overall project leadership, guiding multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of high-profile substations and electrical infrastructure projects.
About the Role
As a Project Manager, you will be instrumental in delivering complex, high-stakes projects by leading strategic planning, commercial management, design development, and execution.
Responsibilities
Project Ownership & Leadership
- Ensure high safety standards are maintained for safe, timely delivery, site mobilisation, and critical project milestones.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers, Project Leaders, and Supervisors, throughout the full project lifecycle (from inception to handover).
- Take full P&L responsibility, driving financial performance while staying on budget.
- Track project revenue and costs, ensuring profitability without compromising safety or quality.
Contract & Strategic Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tender preparation, providing commercial guidance.
- Develop, approve, and oversee contract awards, aligning them with procurement regulations and best practices.

Construction & Delivery
- Lead construction planning, ensuring adherence to schedule, safety, and quality standards.
- Manage Subcontractor relationships, adhering to NEC/FIDIC contracts, CDM regulations, and safety compliance.
- Oversee on-site presence during commissioning and energisation, maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards.
Stakeholder & Team Engagement
- Engage with clients, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to align project execution with business goals.
- Facilitate communication between suppliers, engineering teams, site personnel, and clients to ensure seamless delivery.
- Mitigate risks, resolve delays, and optimise project performance.
Engineering & Procurement
- Track progress and coordinate procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Oversee the full handover process, ensuring compliance and client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- PMP Certification or equivalent in Project Management is highly preferred.
Required Skills & Expertise
Technical & Managerial
- 10+ years’ experience in EPC substation project management, with a focus on financial oversight and strategic delivery.
- Proven P&L management experience, ensuring profitability on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams across all project stages (tender to handover).
- Strong contract negotiation skills with experience in NEC/FIDIC compliance.
- Deep engineering, procurement, and construction process knowledge.
- Hands-on understanding of CDM regulations, environmental compliance, and safety protocols.

Pay & Benefits
Salary Range
£60,000 – £75,000 (basic pay).
