Project Manager – Marine & Civil Engineering Projects - BRAND NEW ROLE FOR OUR CLIENT Location: Suffolk / England (on-site)

Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex civil engineering / nearshore infrastructure projects. The role requires a hands-on leader with a proven track record of delivering challenging projects safely, on time, and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and driving operational excellence. The successful candidate will possess a strong civil engineering background, coupled with experience working on marine, waterfront, offshore, or coastal infrastructure projects. They will be a proactive problem solver who thrives in technically challenging environments and can effectively manage multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery Take responsibility for the successful delivery of construction projects through to completion. Develop and implement project execution strategies, programmes, and resource plans. Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, quality standards, and programme commitments. Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary to achieve project objectives. Lead project teams to deliver efficient and innovative engineering solutions.

Construction & Site Leadership Work closely with construction teams, site management, engineers, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient project delivery. Support site teams in overcoming operational and technical challenges during construction. Coordinate construction activities to ensure programmes are maintained and key milestones achieved. Promote collaboration between engineering, construction, commercial, and planning functions. Provide visible leadership on site and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership Provide leadership on technically complex civil, geotechnical, marine, and offshore construction activities. Review engineering methodologies and construction sequences to ensure safe and efficient delivery. Drive innovative solutions to overcome technical and operational challenges. Coordinate with design teams, consultants, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers.

Stakeholder Management Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships through proactive communication and effective project leadership. Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership Champion a strong safety culture across all project activities. Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and statutory requirements. Promote best practice in health, safety, environmental, and quality management. Lead incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are implemented where required.

Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop project delivery teams. Foster collaboration across engineering, commercial, planning, and operational functions. Support the development of future project leaders and engineers. Encourage a solutions-focused approach to project challenges.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Demonstrable experience delivering major civil engineering infrastructure projects. Proven track record as a Project Manager within heavy civil engineering, geotechnical, marine, or offshore construction environments. Strong understanding of project planning, programme management, construction methodologies, and risk management. Experience working closely with construction and site delivery teams. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to make effective decisions under pressure. Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements within construction. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience delivering marine structures, quay walls, jetties, ports, harbours, offshore foundations, coastal defence works, or waterfront infrastructure. Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership. Knowledge of specialist geotechnical and foundation engineering techniques.
