Project Manager - Mechanical
Mechanical Project Manager – Full-Time, Permanent Roles (Cumbernauld)
About the Role
Due to continued growth, the Asset Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team is expanding and seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join on a permanent basis at their Cumbernauld office.
Our O&M team delivers a diverse range of small- to medium-sized, multi-discipline projects, including:
- Repair and replacement of equipment
- Design and installation of plant systems
- Projects across the Water, Power, Transport, Food & Beverage, and Oil & Gas sectors
- Work spanning Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead a varied portfolio of projects
- Work with experienced engineering professionals
- Deliver innovative, high-quality technical solutions
- Take project ownership while making a real impact across frameworks
Key Responsibilities

Client Liaison & Project Management:
- Guide projects from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation
- Conduct client meetings to discuss specific requirements
- Perform site surveys as needed

Work Oversight & Resource Allocation:
- Instruct, direct, and allocate work to Trade Operatives & Apprentices
- Ensure quality, productivity, and safety align with project goals

Technical Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure all technical resources are available for design/construction delivery
- Interpret and verify drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Direct projects accordingly and prepare final deliverables (e.g., As Built Drawings)
- Identify and resolve non-conformances in both design and construction phases

- Manage system/product design, ensuring alignment with design specifications and technical requirements

- Complete contract documentation

- Apply new technologies to projects
Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate the following:

Qualifications:
- Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

Experience & Competencies:
- Proven Project Management experience in an engineering or supervisory role
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities
- Organisational skills suited to managing workloads in a fast-paced environment
- Technical communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to follow, interpret, and explain technical instructions
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering tools, equipment, and materials
- Driven, collaborative leadership skills for individual and teamwork
