Project Manager (Mechanical Design Aerospace domain)
Overview
We are seeking a technically minded Project Manager to lead aerospace projects from initiation through delivery. The role requires strong project management skills combined with an understanding of engineering processes, component design, systems integration, and regulatory frameworks. The successful candidate will work with internal and customer stakeholders, engineering teams, and management, ensuring complex programs are delivered to time, cost, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate delivery of aerospace gas turbine engineering projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, and certification requirements are achieved.
- Translate engineering and technical detail into project plans, risk registers, and management reports.
- Act as the bridge between engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage project schedules, cost tracking, and reporting in line with aerospace program standards.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and frameworks (e.g., EASA/FAA requirements, AS9100).
- Facilitate design reviews, specialist inputs, and milestone gates.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and resource requirements early and coordinate mitigation strategies.
- Manage subcontractor deliverables and performance for deliverables.
- Support bid preparation and project proposals, contributing to technical-commercial alignment.

Required Skills & Experience
- Proven project management experience in a technical discipline.
- Strong grasp of engineering processes and deliverables.
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation (design requirements specs, statements of work, compliance reports).
- Familiarity with design process life cycle (V-model, gated reviews, configuration management).
- Demonstrable stakeholder and supplier management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable
- Engineering background in aerospace, gas turbines, or systems engineering discipline.
- Experience leading rig design projects.
- Relevant certifications (professional registration, engineering degree, project management certification).
Personal Attributes
- Technically curious and comfortable engaging with mechanical product design and analysis engineers on detailed topics.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Self-driven pragmatic problem solver with a focus on delivery in safety-critical contexts.
- Comfortable working with international teams, suppliers, and regulators.
