Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Employability & Youth Work Manager to lead employability, skills development, and youth engagement programmes across Greater Manchester. The role will oversee programme delivery, staff and volunteer coordination, stakeholder relationships, safeguarding, reporting, and participant progression into education, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, delivery, and improvement of employability and youth development programmes.
- Deliver engaging workshops, mentoring, coaching, and one-to-one progression support for young people and adults.
- Support participants with CVs, job applications, interview preparation, career planning, and progression pathways.
- Manage programme targets, outcomes, KPIs, monitoring data, and reports for funders and stakeholders.
- Line manage staff, sessional workers, and volunteers, including supervision, appraisals, and performance support.
- Build effective partnerships with employers, schools, colleges, training providers, local authorities, and community organisations.
- Act as a safeguarding lead within programme delivery and ensure compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, Health and Safety, and organisational policies.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, participant wellbeing, and continuous improvement across all programme activity.

Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Experience managing employability, youth work, education, training, or community-based programmes.
- Experience supporting young people or adults using a person-centred, inclusive, and outcome-focused approach.
- Experience delivering workshops, mentoring, coaching, or employability support.
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or project teams.
- Experience managing projects against targets, outcomes, and KPIs.
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of youth engagement, employability programmes, and progression pathways.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organisation, and project management skills.
- Ability to build strong partnerships and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Confidence using digital platforms, databases, and monitoring systems.
Essential Qualifications
A relevant qualification in youth work, education, employability, project management, community development, social work, safeguarding, or a related discipline is required.

Desirable
- Project management qualification such as PRINCE2, Agile, PMP, or equivalent.
- Experience managing funded programmes or working with vulnerable or disadvantaged young people.
- Knowledge of the Greater Manchester employability and skills sector.
- Additional training in safeguarding, mental health awareness, first aid, or trauma-informed practice.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and communities, confident in leading others, highly organised, compassionate, resilient, solution-focused, and committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and social impact.
Additional Requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel between programme sites and partner locations when required.
- Enhanced DBS Check, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
