Role Purpose
The IT Governance & Outsourcing team at Open Society Foundations (OSF) defines best practices for managing: ✔ IT-enabled projects and data governance ✔ Budgets and expenses ✔ Contracts, vendors, and resourcing strategies ✔ Business continuity and risk mitigation
This role establishes processes and frameworks to enhance:
- Demand management and project prioritisation
- Streamlined project delivery with efficiency gains
- Benefits tracking and performance measurement
- Stakeholder alignment in change management
- Enterprise architecture and IT security compliance
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight & Decision Support
- Partner closely with internal customers and sponsors to shape strategy, vision, and high-level project plans.
- Drive cross-functional alignment while balancing short-term efficiency with long-term value delivery.
- Navigate complexity and prioritise initiatives across multi-region and multi-stakeholder environments.
Project Governance & Execution
- Plan and manage budgets ranging from $100,000 to $5M—allocating resources optimally while tracking scope adherens and risks.
- Orchestrate multiple projects simultaneously, juggling time zones, milestones, deadlines, and cross-project dependencies.
- Apply sophisticated PM/change management techniques to reduce friction, streamline workflows, and ensure off-track activities.
- Kill failing projects when objectives are not met, or refocus them to de-risk deliverables.
Vendor & Relationship Management
- Act as chief contractor, negotiating terms and ensuring compliance, performance benchmarks, and contractual adherence.
- Foster strong working relationships with IT subject-matter experts and business units to avoid silos and drive collaboration.

Change & Risk Leadership
- Develop and implement change communication plans, training, and governance to secure stakeholder buy-in.
- Forecast risks early, mitigate threats, and course-correct proactively to protect teams and projects.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience & Expertise
✔ Proven resume as a project manager in a multi-site, complex, profit-for-purpose (consulting, non-profit, or for-profit) organisation. ✔ Hands-on experience with IT vendor management, budgetary control / high-value contracts (up to $5M+). ✔ Proficiency in multilevel stakeholder management—including balancing competing priorities in matrix organisations. ✔ Experience leading cross-functional IT implementations across global geographies, with detailed attention to ** IT security compliance** and legal considerations. ✔ Familiarity with project management frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) and certifications (e.g., PMP, Change Management credentials) are a huge plus.
