The Project Manager – Overhead Lines (OHL) will report to the Lead Project Manager and lead a multi-disciplinary team. This role sits at the heart of delivering major SP Transmission projects within Scottish Power’s licence area.
Key Responsibilities
Core duties include:
- End-to-end management of OHL projects across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with business targets.
- Delivery of project outputs, incentive metrics, and milestones to meet contractual and financial goals.
- Risk and issue management, ensuring NEC contracts are administered correctly.
- Financial governance by developing accurate capital expenditure forecasts and proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Project programming to maintain timelines and budgets.
- Stakeholder and system data compliance—ensuring final asset records are entered in line with policies.
- Lessons-learned culture by conducting project reviews and implementing improvements across the portfolio.
- Strong leadership, commercial awareness, and technical expertise in OHL construction within active transmission systems.

Requirements
Essential criteria for the role:
- Proven experience managing and delivering OHL or transmission infrastructure projects.
- Technical understanding of OHL design and construction processes.
- Proficiency in procurement, contracting, budgeting, and governance, including experience with:
- NEC contracts
- SP Transmission’s Design & Construction contracts (SPT D&C)
- JCT and/or FIDIC contracts
- Risk management and analytical skills to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation (HSE), especially CDM.
- Degree in engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Full UK driving licence.
Preferred traits include:
- Stakeholder engagement within the energy sector.
- Experience in a regulatory-driven environment.
