About the role
As Project Manager at Howden, you’ll be at the heart of our special projects - coordinating activity, solving problems, and ensuring every project moves smoothly from handover to final payment. You’ll work closely with internal teams, taking ownership of schedules, budgets, risks, and documentation. Travel is minimal and always planned in advance. If you thrive on variety, enjoy digging into root cause issues, and like working with people across engineering, operations, procurement, and quality, this role gives you the exposure, challenge, and influence to make a real difference.

Manage projects from sales handover through to delivery and final payment. Act as the main internal point of contact, coordinating closely with Project Managers and cross functional teams. Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities - driving investigations, ensuring timely resolution, and communicating outcomes clearly. Create accurate project datasheets, load project information into MRP and document control systems, and maintain up to date schedules. Monitor project progress, identify risks or delays early, and work with teams to recover to baseline. Report project status, risks, financials, and forecasts to management. Manage budgets, cashflow forecasting, invoicing, and margin improvement opportunities.
What do you bring?
An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile:
Experience managing projects or working closely within project delivery in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong commercial awareness and confidence dealing with internal stakeholders and customer related issues. A proactive, solutions focused mindset - able to think laterally, resolve issues, and drive corrective actions. Evidence of leadership, influencing, negotiation, and strong interpersonal skills. Proven ability to deliver against time, cost, and quality targets. Competence with Excel, Word and Outlook.

Knowledge of compressors or rotating machinery. Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, refrigeration, heat pump, biogas, or vapour recovery sectors. Project Management qualifications. HNC or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
Working style and pattern
Flexible hybrid working - minimum two days per week in the Renfrew office. Occasional domestic or international travel to suppliers or customers
