Overview

As Property Project Manager, you'll play a key role in bringing innovative store concepts to life, leading cross functional projects from initial idea through to pilot, rollout and successful handover. Working with teams across the business and external partners, you'll turn ambitious concepts into practical, scalable solutions that support our growth plans. This is an exciting opportunity to combine strong project management with collaboration, commercial thinking and innovation to help shape the future of the Screwfix estate.

Responsibilities

New Format Development & Delivery

  • Align on priorities and roadmap with Line Manager, to ensure functional priorities are supported and met
  • Project manage the end-to-end delivery of new format projects, from concept development through to pilot execution and rollout
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and milestones for pilot and rollout phases
  • Ensure projects are delivered to time, cost, quality, and safety standards

Concept Testing, Pilots & Iteration

  • Design and implement pilot programmes to test new store formats and concepts
  • Work with stakeholders to define success measures (e.g. customer experience, operational efficiency, commercial performance)
  • Gather insight and feedback from pilots, identifying learnings and areas for optimisation
  • Iterate formats/adopt and test and learn approach based on data and feedback before scaling across the estate

Stakeholder Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner with Property, Format, Commercial, and Retail Operations teams to shape and refine new concepts.
  • Work closely with Asset and Property teams to align format development with site opportunities and constraints.
  • Engage key stakeholders to ensure alignment on design, delivery, and operational readiness.
  • Act as a connector across functions, ensuring clarity and pace in decision-making

Governance, Risk & Commercial Control

  • Ensure robust governance is applied across all projects, adapting where required to support innovation
  • Manage budgets, cost tracking, and investment decisions for pilot and rollout phases
  • Identify and manage risks, particularly around new concepts, untested formats, and delivery constraints
  • Provide clear updates and insight to stakeholders and governance forums

Supplier & Delivery Partner Management

  • Manage external partners including designers, contractors, and fit-out providers
  • Ensure partners support innovation while maintaining delivery discipline and compliance
  • Work with procurement to source and select suppliers aligned to new format requirements

Operational Readiness & Embedding

  • Ensure new formats are operationally viable and support front-line teams in delivering a great customer experience
  • Work closely with Retail teams to ensure successful launch and handover of new formats
  • Support the embedding of new ways of working, layouts, and processes into business operations

Continuous Improvement & Scaling

  • Capture and share learnings from pilot formats to inform future developments
  • Support the scaling of successful formats across the estate
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed to market, cost efficiency, and customer outcomes
  • Contribute to the evolution of property and format strategy
  • Use external networks and internal teams as to ensure that project management approach and methodology used serves to effectively deliver functional projects

Qualifications

Essential

  • Project management experience, ideally within property, retail, or customer-facing environments
  • Experience delivering complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end
  • Strong ability to translate concepts into practical, deliverable solutions
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to shape and deliver outcomes
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance investment, cost, and customer outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in ambiguous or evolving environments
