Project Manager - Rail

Company Description

The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.

Job Description

The Project Manager leads the delivery of the Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health, Fire, Telecoms and BEMs design associated with area packages of the Old Oak Common Station Project, one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure developments and a key interchange for High Speed 2.

Leading multi-disciplinary design teams, the role directs and coordinates design, engineering, and stakeholder activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality and regulatory requirements.

This role will work alongside Design Managers who focus on the technical delivery of the workstream, and with wider support from commercial, procurement, assurance, and construction.

The Project Manager takes ownership of project planning, programme management, NEC contract administration, reporting, budget adherence, and risk management. The role involves leading the relationship with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives to drive progress, resolve issues, and maintain effective communication across the project.

Responsibilities include owning the preparation of project documentation, driving the achievement of key milestones within budget, assisting with the commercial and change management processes, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

This role is suited to an experienced and commercially astute project management professional with a proven track record of delivering large infrastructure or construction projects. Ideally with contractor experience in delivering design and build projects in a complex or rail environment.

You can be based 3 days a week in our offices at either our Old Oak Common, Acton or the Design office at Elephant & Castle, London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the assigned work packages, owning the programme, budget, quality, and safety outcomes from inception through to design completion.
  • Own the accuracy and quality of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to your assigned work packages ensuring they are submitted on time and that the indicators are understood and communicated to the Senior Management Team.
  • Co-lead and be responsible for a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver design on time, on budget, and to a sufficient level of quality and detail to meet project objectives, with Design Manager.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and championing the Health and Safety culture, resolving arising issues or escalating as appropriate, and ensuring safe delivery in line with the corporate safety vision. Undertake safety tours for all on-site works.
  • Own complex internal and external stakeholder engagement/management. Agree project requirements with the Senior Project Manager / Project Director & Engineering Lead to ensure that business objectives are met.
  • Own and be accountable for project governance, reporting, and control structures, with issues, risks, and decisions escalated through the agreed Governance arrangements as appropriate.
  • Secure procurement approvals in line with, and linked to, the accepted programme.
  • Working with the dedicated Interface management team, identify and manage any interfaces and dependencies between the assigned project and other ongoing network activities/projects.
  • Working with the dedicated Commercial management function, own the project budget, ensuring it is set and reported against, and proactively driving efficiency and mitigating the cost impact of risks.
  • Assist with the change and commercial management process under NEC3 Option C, including the proactive identification, notification, and management of early warnings, compensation events, and risk to protect project time and cost.
  • Responsible for the leadership and non-technical management of the multi-disciplinary design team, including the line management, mentoring, and development of Assistant Project Managers and junior project staff.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
