About the Role

WSP is seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join our Roads team based in London & South East.

Your role will involve leading the delivery of projects across planning, design, and construction for public and private-sector clients nationwide. You’ll play a key part in our high-performing team, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance while supporting junior staff to grow.


Key Responsibilities

Your work will include:

  • Managing highways projects through planning, design, and construction for public, private, and infrastructure clients in the UK.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality management systems while driving operational efficiencies.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff, supporting their professional development and progression.
  • Working with limited supervision to plan, execute, and control projects, including managing risk and change.
  • Administering and negotiating contracts under framework and standalone agreements.
  • Collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams, client stakeholders, and internal resources—including remote teams in India—to deliver projects on time and budget.
  • Balancing client relationships, stakeholder engagement, and operational objectives.

You’ll thrive in this role with the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

  • A professional qualification in project management or an engineering discipline.
  • A degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • Accreditation in NEC (New Engineering Contract) principles, demonstrating leadership in contract administration.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in professional institutions, such as:
    • APM (Association for Project Management)
    • PMI (Project Management Institute)
    • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors)
    • MICE (Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers)
  • A background in highway/linear infrastructure is preferable, though we are eager to develop strong project management talent irrespective of sector experience.
  • Proven ability in stakeholder management, risk analysis, planning/scheduling, and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience with project management tools and software.
  • Compliance skills (e.g., understanding CDM Regulations and Designers’ Duties).
