The Role
As a Project Manager in our UK Defence function you will be developing, procuring and integrating systems onto our test and evaluation ranges, together with the deployment and delivery of trials, training and operational exercises.
Day to day, you’ll be testing, researching, supplying, preparing, and sustaining client platforms and weapon systems for operational use by providing test, exercise, modelling, analysis services and laboratory facilities, in safe, realistic and instrumented environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Development of clear and compelling customer proposals
- Delivery of projects safely and to time, cost and quality
- Production and maintenance of robust project plans and resource/cost schedules (PPM), with which to manage the projects & forecast expenditure
- Regular, open, honest and timely project reporting using corporate tools and in line with financial reporting requirements

Essential experience of the Project Manager:
- Track record of successful delivery of projects and programmes to defined cost, timescale and budget
- Ability to decompose complex issues, to an appropriate level of detail, in a methodical manner
- First-hand experience of procurement and tendering processes (e.g. the production of specifications, definition of supplier selection criteria and contracting)
- Experience of systems engineering discipline
Essential qualifications for the Project Manager:
- Industry recognised qualification such as Prince2, AMP, PMP

This role is 37 hours per week based at our PTP site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Please note that there will be expected travel to the test sites which are based at Aberporth, West Freugh and the Hebrides.

Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
