Project Manager – SRS Business Change

Student Record System (SRS) Programme – Business Change Manager

About the Role

The Student Record System (SRS) Programme is an institution-wide initiative to replace Cardiff Met’s core student data infrastructure with a modern, integrated suite of systems, including a student record system, admissions platform, international compliance automation, and curriculum management system. All components will be connected via a Central Data Hub.

This transformational programme will fundamentally enhance experiences for students, staff, and partners. As Business Change Manager, you will lead the business change aspects of one of the University’s most important programmes, overseeing the transition from scanning and planning through to implementation and embedding changes in business as usual.

Working in collaboration with senior stakeholders across Academic Schools, IT, Registry, Marketing, Communications, and Student Recruitment, you will provide leadership, stakeholder management, and project coordination—ensuring delivered changes deliver measurable benefits while staying within scope, budget, and timelines.


You’ll Lead The Way By

  • End-to-end project lifecycle ownership: Manage the full spectrum of change projects—from definition, scoping, and planning to implementation and closure—ensuring benefits are embedded and sustainable.
  • Strategic project planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans using established methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile), focusing on quality, outcomes, and on-time delivery within budget.
  • Stakeholder liaison: Act as a bridge between the SRS Programme and university-wide stakeholders, including academic Schools, professional services, and senior leadership, to drive alignment and buy-in.
  • Financial governance: Monitor project budgets—forecasting, analysers disparities, scheduling expenditures, and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborative programme management: Work with colleagues (e.g., POs, BAs) to address dependencies and uphold best practices across the programme.
  • Team leadership: Inspire and support project team members, fostering skill development and cohesion throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Governance and communication: Oversee stakeholder engagement strategies, maintain robust reporting mechanisms, and ensure transparent communication on progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefits.

What You’ll Bring

Core Requirements

  • Experienced Project Manager: Proven history of delivering complex, cross-organisational business change projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Stakeholder skills: Ability to build trust with diverse partners—navigating competing priorities with pragmatic judgement.
  • Technical appreciation: Understanding of how modern information systems interoperate, alongside empathy for the human impact of change.
  • Formal qualifications: PRINCE2 or Agile certification (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Sector experience: Prior work in higher education or a comparable high-complexity organisation will be advantageous.

Key Competencies

  • Expertise in project management theory and tools (e.g., methodologies, process models).
  • Multiple stakeholder management: Delivery of simultaneous, complex change projects.
  • Business analysis: Experience in user requirements gathering, process modelling, and benefits realisation.
  • Communication skills: Clarity in presenting technical concepts to executives, managers, and end-users (e.g., business cases, reports, presentations).
  • Leadership abilities: Ability to mentor and develop project teams, ensuring alignment and motivation.
  • Networking: Strong relationships with both internal and external collaborators.
