Project Manager
Project Manager – Lifecycle & Capital Works
Location: Essex Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits
Our client, a leading international construction, development, and facilities management organisation, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Building Services team based in Essex.
Operating across educational environments including schools, colleges, and universities throughout the UK, our client delivers comprehensive facilities management solutions encompassing:
- Mechanical and electrical services
- Cleaning
- Catering
- Grounds maintenance
- Capital improvement projects
Their focus is on creating safe, efficient, and sustainable environments that positively impact communities and end users.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Project Manager to:
- Take ownership of lifecycle, capital works, and small works projects
- Ensure successful delivery from inception through to completion
Working as part of an integrated team, you will collaborate closely with:
- Clients
- Stakeholders
- Commercial teams
- Operational colleagues
To deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of:
- Lifecycle replacement programmes
- Capital works projects
- Associated small works
- Oversee:
- Project planning
- Design management
- Temporary works
- Estimating
- Resource allocation
- Delivery through direct and subcontract labour

Lead and facilitate:
- Project meetings
- Requirements gathering
- Design reviews
- Pre-start meetings
- Progress reviews
- Project handovers
- Project meetings

Work closely with commercial and contract teams to ensure:
- Quotations are prepared
- Submitted within agreed KPI and performance management timescales

Coordinate with stakeholders to:
- Plan works effectively
- Ensure minimal disruption to daily operations
- Maintain cost-effective project delivery

Manage:
- Project risks
- Programme performance
- Quality standards
- Health and safety compliance
Throughout the project lifecycle

Support out-of-hours and weekend project activities when required:
- Subject to operational needs and agreement with management

Produce regular project reports for senior management:
- Updates on lifecycle, capital, and small works projects
About You
The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing:
- Multidisciplinary construction, engineering, or building services projects
- Exhibit excellent stakeholder management skills

Essential Requirements
-
HNC in:
- Building
- Mechanical
- Electrical Engineering
OR a relevant degree qualification
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing:
- Multidisciplinary projects

Health & Safety qualification such as:
- IOSH Managing Safely
- SMSTS
-
CSCS Card or equivalent certification
-
Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS clearance
Desirable
- Professional qualification in a:
- Building-related discipline
- Project Management
- Experience within:
- Facilities management
- Educational environments
- Public sector projects
