UK Turnaround Office – PMO & Governance Support Role
Overview
This critical position supports the governance and execution of the UK Turnaround Office, assisting in the management of high-priority workstreams while partnering with the Operating Unit, Extended Leadership Team (ELT), and Executive stakeholders to drive meaningful progress.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate strong Project Management Office (PMO) discipline
- Excel in advanced Excel modelling and complex data analysis
- Break down intricate issues into clear, actionable insights
- Build credibility and confidence when engaging with senior stakeholders
- Approach challenges with precision, organisation, and collaboration while working efficiently and independently

Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the UK Turnaround Office across the following areas:
Core Governance & Execution Support
- Manage PMO governance routines, meeting agendas, action tracking, and follow-ups
- Collaborate with Executive and ELT sponsors to produce clear, well-structured updates, governance materials, and decision papers
- Track progress, including:
- Risks
- Issues
- Dependencies
- Milestones
- Assignments/owners
- Maintain critical documentation such as:
- Project plans
- Action logs
- Decision logs
- Risk trackers
- Timeline alignment
- Governance documents
- Develop and refine Excel models, trackers, dashboards, and PowerPoint packs to inform decision-making
- Transform diverse team inputs into concise, accurate, and decision-oriented updates
- Proactively engage in strategic pillars, unblock bottlenecks, and ensure workstreams remain aligned

Cross-Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Build trusted relationships with:

- Challenge constructively to:

- Support project owners by:

- Identifying benefits and risks
- Determining required support
- Act decisively—from building trackers and chasing actions to solving blockers on the ground
Leadership & Additional Initiatives
- Lead (or contribute to) additional strategy, transformation, or turnaround initiatives as directed by the UK Strategy and Transformation leadership team
- Align closely with UK Executive priorities to drive cohesive execution
Requirements
Core Skills & Qualifications
- Analytical mindset with a strategic approach, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to distil complex problems
- Proven project management experience, ideally within:
- Strategy
- Transformation
- PMO
- Business operations/transformation
- Finance/commercial units
- Hands-on experience supporting (or leading):
- Senior governance forums
- Steering committees
- Executive-level decision-making
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Developing and maintaining structured trackers
- Creating and refining data models
- Advanced financial/analytical analysis
- Mastery of PowerPoint and Word, with expertise in producing senior-ready materials, governance documentation, briefing notes, and written update reports
- Ability to thrive in high-ambiguity environments, balancing competing priorities and ensuring uninterrupted progress
- Results-driven problem solver with:
- A bias for action
- A ”can-do” attitude
- A willingness to dive into details and resolve challenges impediment directly

- Formal project management certification, such as:
- PRINCE2
- Agile
- PMP
- (or equivalent)
