About the Role

Sustainable Building Services is one of the UK’s largest providers of residential retrofitting for decarbonisation. Whether targeting social housing or private homes, the company delivers large-scale projects focused on boosting energy efficiency and low-carbon technology.

Each year, their work enhances the health, comfort, and well-being of thousands of households. They also address challenges such as fuel poverty and the rising cost of living, while contributing to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.

With plans for exciting growth, the company is hiring an experienced Project Manager to support its expansion in the Midlands Region, contributing to the development of teams across the UK.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the setup of each project, including:
    • Allocating the site team
    • Handover from estimation processes
    • Agreeing budgets
    • Reviewing retrofit information
    • Sub-contractor procurement
    • Formulating project programmes
  • Provide day-to-day management of:
    • Site Managers
    • Site Supervisors
    • Tenants Liaison Officers
    • Site Operatives under your control
  • Hold regular team briefings (both formal and informal) to:
    • Keep staff informed of programme priorities and changes
    • Review key project milestones
  • Ensure all sites are adequately resourced from company and supply chain perspectives
  • Monitor supply chain performance regularly to confirm:
    • Adherence to programmes and contractual requirements
  • Attend regular operations meetings and produce necessary reports
  • Ensure properties are completed to contract specification standards, including:
    • Compliance with retrofit requirements
    • Meeting client deadlines for lodge submissions

Skills & Experience

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to:
    • Influence and mentor teams
  • Ability to plan and organise resources to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Proficient in:
    • IT tools, particularly Outlook and Excel
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Experience in the retrofit process, covering:
    • Assessments
    • Design
    • Lodgement

Qualifications

Required:

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid qualification

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management
  • IOSH Managing Safely

Additional requirement:

  • Full UK driving license

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years in construction
  • Prior experience managing social housing and/or energy efficiency schemes
