Project Manager (Water Infrastructure) – Belfast

About the Role
Our Water Asset Design team specialises in the municipal water sector and non-regulated (industrial/international) markets. We serve clients including some of the largest UK water companies and contractors, delivering projects across:
- Wastewater treatment
- Water treatment
- Sewerage schemes
- Water network projects
- Related infrastructure projects (from routine maintenance to large-scale national programmes)
With a team across the UK and a national outsourced partner in India, we are now looking for an experienced Project Manager based in Belfast to lead project delivery through all stages:
- Optioneering
- Design and execution
- Handover to clients
- Client and stakeholder engagement
As a Project Manager, you’ll oversee a variety of water industry and industrial projects, ensuring high-quality delivery, cost control, and seamless collaboration between technical, commercial, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Manage project proposals, setting clear requirements, scope, resources, programming, and budgets to deliver against client objectives
- Direct project management documentation, including:
- Project management plans and cost estimates
- Risk registers & schedules
- Stakeholder and organisation charts
- Ensure budgetary control, forecasts, and financial reporting under P&L ownership
- Revenue, margin, overhead management
- Risk & opportunity assessments
- Accounts payable, billing, and cash flow collection
- Monitor & control schedules, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditures
- Maintain effective contract & change management under industry-standard NEC contracts

Team Management & Accountability
- Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams (including junior PMs and third-party suppliers)
- Assign responsibilities, ensure deliverables meet project standards, and maintain high performance
- Implement health & safety compliance, embedded project frameworks, and continuous improvement practices
- Champion lessons learned and innovation
Commercial & Communication Excellence
- Communicate technically complex information to internal teams and clients clearly and confidently
- Proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and mitigate conflicts to protect project integrity
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in delivering infrastructure projects (preferably in:
- UK regulated water sector, or
- Non-regulated water/industrial markets)
- Strong understanding and experience in NEC (New Engineering Contract) contracts (knowledge or professional accreditation preferred)
- Chartered or accredited membership of a professional body, such as:
- Association for Project Management (APM)
- Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE) or equivalent
- Technical and commercial competency in stakeholder management, risk assessment, planning, scheduling, and financial control
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, JIRA, etc.)
