Project Manager (Water Projects)

Project Manager (Water Asset Design) – Key Role at WSP

About the Role

At WSP, we empower you to shape a career as unique as you are—guided by global opportunities to grow, collaborate with diverse talent, and drive meaningful impact across industries. Your role as a Project Manager within our Water Asset Design team will position you at the forefront of delivering critical infrastructure projects.

Our team supports water and wastewater schemes for some of the UK’s largest utilities, contractors, and international users. From routine maintenance to landmark infrastructure projects, you’ll have the chance to lead multidisciplinary teams, champion high-quality delivery, and drive excellence—backed by a distributed UK workforce and outsourced partners in India.

Your Core Responsibilities

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • End-to-end project leadership: Directing teams from optioneering through delivery, handover, and compliance with client objectives.
  • Commercial and financial accountability:
    • Managing revenues, margins, and overhead cost centres.
    • Overseeing budgets, forecasts, risk assessments, and stakeholder financial engagement.
  • Technical and administrative excellence:
    • Developing project plans (management plans, cost estimates, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers).
    • Ensuring compliant contract administration, change management, and documenting deliverables.
  • Team and conflict resolution:
    • Leading and developing multi-disciplinary project teams (technical professionals, external suppliers).
    • Proactively resolving issues, managing conflicts, and fostering continuous improvement—capturing lessons learned for future projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
