Project Manager (Water Projects)

Project Manager – Water Asset Design (Belfast)

What if you could shape a career as unique as you?

At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and work with diverse, talented individuals, expanding your horizons.

About the Role

Our Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector as well as the non-regulated (industrial / international) sector. Our clients include some of the largest water companies in the UK, as well as contractors in the sector. We deliver wastewater treatment, water treatment, sewerage, and water network schemes, supporting both related and broader infrastructure needs. We work on complex projects—from routine maintenance to the largest water projects in the UK. Our team operates across the UK, supported by an outsourced team based in India.

We are hiring a Project Manager to join our Water team in Belfast to lead projects from optioneering through delivery and handover to the client, ensuring laser focus on timelines, budgets, and quality.

As part of the Asset Design team, you’ll manage infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the water and industrial sectors, ensuring projects are successfully delivered while fostering high standards in health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Scope and manage project delivery – Define requirements, scope, resources, programmes, and cost estimates to meet client goals.
  • Financial accountability – Own project profitability, including revenue delivery, margin, overhead management, budgeting, forecasting, risk reviews, and cost controls.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation – Prepare project management plans, cost estimates, risk registers, schedules, stakeholder registers, and organisational charts.
  • Monitor & control execution – Track schedules, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure against targets.
  • Contract management – Ensure adherence to contracts through contract administration, change management, and procurement.
  • Team leadership – Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor assistant project managers, and ensure outputs align with project requirements.
  • Quality & risk management – Manage deliverables, project records, and proactive issue resolution before they impact timelines.
  • Stakeholder communication – Present and maintain accurate updates for teams and clients.
  • Promote continuous improvement – Champion a culture of lessons learned, efficiency, and knowledge-sharing.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
