Project Manager (Water Projects - Asset Management)

About the Role

Due to the scale of work required for Asset Management (AMP8), we’re seeking committed individuals to join our Water team and support a diverse team of multidisciplinary experts.

As a Project Manager in our Asset Management team, you’ll oversee a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for water industry and industrial clients. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading, guiding, and developing multidisciplinary project teams
  • Championing high-quality, timely delivery
  • Ensuring strong health safety and environmental compliance throughout projects

Daily Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Development

    • Manage project proposals, defining scope, requirements, resources, programmes, and cost estimates (budgets).
    • Own the Project & Finance (P&L), ensuring revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast accuracy, risk assessment, cost controls, accounts payable/billing, and cash collection.
  • Project Documentation & Compliance

    • Develop critical project management documentation, including:
      • Project management plans
      • Cost estimates and financial forecasts
      • Risk registers
      • Project schedules and stakeholder registers
      • Project organisation charts
  • Monitoring & Control

    • Track progress against schedule, man-hours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure to ensure adherence to objectives.

  • Contract & Change Management

    • Ensure effective contract administration and change management processes.
  • Stakeholder & Team Leadership

    • Lead multi-disciplinary teams comprising technical/professional staff and suppliers.
    • Manage project deliverables, information, and records with transparency.
    • Effectively communicate project status and updates to teams and clients.
  • Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution

    • Anticipate and address potential issues or conflicts preemptively to safeguard project delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement

    • Promote a culture of rigorous quality control and lessons learned for future success.

Requirements

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in delivering infrastructure projects, ideally with regulated water industries or non-regulated water projects.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts, including applicable technical and practical administration knowledge.
  • Professional membership or accreditation from relevant bodies such as:
    • Association for Project Management (APM)
    • Project Management Institute (PMI)
    • Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MustC) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Technical Competencies

  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Stakeholder management
    • Risk monitoring and mitigation
    • Planning and scheduling
    • Commercial project management

Education & Professional Development

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate (MSc/BSc) qualification in relevant disciplines, such as:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Earth Sciences
    • Environmental Science
    • Geography
  • Chartership route with relevant professional bodies (in progress or completed).
