About the Role
Our Water Asset Design team works primarily in the municipal water sector as well as the non-regulated (industrial/international) sector. Our clients include some of the largest water companies in the UK, as well as contractors working in the sector. We deliver:
- Wastewater treatment
- Water treatment
- Sewerage
- Water network schemes
- Support for related industries
Our projects range from routine network maintenance to some of the largest water projects in the UK. The team is distributed across the UK and supported by an outsourced team in India.
We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Water Team in Belfast, leading the delivery of projects involving multidisciplinary teams from optioneering through to delivery and handover to the Client.
As a Project Manager within the Asset Design team, you will work on a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for water industry and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of project delivery, including:

Planning & Execution:
- Determine project requirements, scope, resources, programmes, and cost estimates (budgets)
- Develop project management documentation, including:
- Project management plans
- Cost estimates & forecasts
- Risk registers
- Project schedules & stakeholder registers
- Project organisation charts

Financial & Commercial Leadership:
- Own the P&L, including commercial and financial accountability
- Manage revenue delivery, margins, overheads, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
- Ensure accounts payable/billing and cash collection compliance

Project Monitoring & Control:
- Monitor schedule, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure
- Ensure effective contract management, including administration and change management

Team & Delivery Leadership:
- Manage project team members (including assistant PMs) to ensure outputs meet requirements
- Oversee project deliverables, information, and records
- Communicate project information accurately to both the project team and customer
- Anticipate and pre-emptively address issues and potential conflicts to ensure project success

Stakeholder & Team Leadership:
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams (technical/professional staff and suppliers)
- Champion quality delivery with a focus on health and safety
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and capture lessons learned
Requirements & Skills
We will be looking for you to demonstrate:
-
Proven experience in delivering infrastructure projects, ideally with:
- Exposure to the regulated water industry (preferred but not essential)
- Experience in non-regulated water projects (industrial/international)

Working knowledge or accreditation in NEC contracts, supported by:
- Technical and practical skills in contract administration

Membership of professional institutions, such as:
- Association for Project Management (APM)
- Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE)

Proficient use of project management tools and software

Strong competency in:
- Stakeholder management
- Risk identification & mitigation
- Scheduling & planning
- Commercial management
