Project Manager

About the Role
Responsible for the end-to-end management and delivery of complex, multi-stream projects within a client banking environment. This includes:
- Leading business change initiatives
- Overseeing technical implementations
- Ensuring robust financial governance across all phases of the project lifecycle
The role requires a strong focus on driving change within financial services, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes aligned to:
- Regulatory priorities
- Operational objectives
- Strategic growth
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead delivery of complex change projects across business and technology domains in banking.
- Manage the full project lifecycle (initiation → implementation → closure), aligning with governance frameworks like:
- PRINCE2
- Agile
- Waterfall
- Define and manage:
- Scope, timelines, and deliverables
- Multi-workstream resources and dependencies
Business Change & Transformation
- Drive successful implementation of new processes, operating models, and Systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define target-state operating models and execute transitions.
- Support organisational readiness through:
- Change impact assessments
- Stakeholder engagement
- Communication strategies
Technical Implementation
- Oversee technology-enabled changes, working with:
- IT & architecture teams
- Delivery partners
- Ensure successful adoption of:
- Banking platforms
- Digital systems
- Regulatory technology (regtech) solutions
- Manage system integration to align with enterprise architecture standards

Financial & Budget Management
- Own and manage project financials, including:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Cost control
- Track cash flow, invoicing, and financial reporting (with compliance to governance standards)
- Develop and manage business cases, ensuring:
- Benefits realisation
- ROI tracking throughout the lifecycle
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Lead project governance, delivering high-quality reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Proactively manage:
- Risks
- Issues
- Assumptions
- Cross-project dependencies
- Ensure compliance with:
- UK/EU financial regulations
- Internal risk frameworks
Stakeholder Management
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders across:
- Business
- Technology
- Client leadership teams
- Serve as the key interface for:
- Client bank
- in-house delivery teams
- Provide clear, concise governance updates at all levels
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement best practices in:
- Project management
- Business change delivery
- Promote sustainable refining of governance frameworks
Experience & Skills
Essential
✅ 8+ years of experience in project management within:
- Financial Services / Banking
- Digital transformation or core banking sectors
✅ Demonstrated success with:
- Multistream project delivery in tech and business domains
- Change management and business transformation initiatives
- Technical system implementations (including third-party provided solutions)
- Budget ownership (forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting)
✅ Knowledge of:
- Project governance models (PRINCE2, Agile, etc.)
- Regulatory environments, including:
- UK financial regulations
- Quasi-regulatory risks (BCBS, SEC, IDD)
- Stakeholder influence across cross-functional teams
✅ Strong experience managing:
- Full project lifecycles (initiation → closure)
- Client-facing relationships and level-set expectations

Desirable
🔹 Hands-on experience delivering programmes with:
- UK-based client banks (operating within London)
- Data programmes, core banking upgrades, or core GI transformation
🔹 Professional certifications in:
- PRINCE2
- PMP
- Agile (Scrum/Kanban frameworks)
🔹 Familiarity with:
- Digital transformation strategies
- Regtech implementations in consumer or corporate banking
Leadership & Behavioural Competencies
- Strong leadership capable of delivering in high-stakes, fast-paced environments
- Ability to:
- Manage ambiguity with clarity
- Drive unblocking of cross-project dependencies
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
- Collaborative mindset, capable of:
- Managing cross-functional stakeholders seamlessly
Education & Qualifications
📜 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience 📛 Project Management certification preferred (one of):
- PRINCE2
- PMP
- Equivalent
