Lead Project Manager / Project Manager – Residential Construction

Location: Dorchester, Dorset

Salary: Competitive + Package (DOE)

Job Type: Full Time | Permanent

Lead Project Manager – Residential Development | Dorchester

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Project Manager to take the lead on a significant 2-year residential construction project in the Dorchester area.

Working for a well-established and respected construction business, you will oversee the delivery of a high-quality development comprising new build homes and apartments from construction through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and commercially aware Project Manager looking to lead a flagship scheme while managing an experienced Senior Site Manager and working closely with the wider project team.

The Role

As the Lead Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of this major residential development, ensuring the project is completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the delivery of a large-scale residential housing development.
  • Managing and supporting an experienced Senior Site Manager.
  • Overseeing programme, quality, health & safety and commercial performance.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.
  • Driving programme milestones and ensuring timely project delivery.
  • Identifying and managing project risks and resolving issues proactively.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of customer satisfaction and build quality.

About You

We are looking for a well-rounded Project Manager with proven experience delivering residential construction projects.

You Could Come From

  • A national or regional housebuilder.
  • A main contractor delivering residential or mixed-use developments.
  • A combination of both backgrounds.

You'll Ideally Have

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or Lead Project Manager on residential construction projects.
  • Experience delivering new build housing, apartments, or mixed residential developments.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing Site Managers or Senior Site Managers.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications (or equivalent).
