Project Officer
Salary: £32,616 per annum
Location: Hybrid working from Manchester, Newcastle, York or Birmingham
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Vacancies: Four positions

Overview
Our client is a UK-based public organisation working to improve places, support communities, and protect the historic environment. They are seeking four Project Officers to support place-based regeneration programmes across several regions.
These roles will help develop and deliver projects that use heritage, community engagement, grants, and specialist advice to create positive and long-lasting change. You will work closely with colleagues, local authorities, community organisations, charities, businesses, and other public bodies.
The available positions are:
- Two full-time roles based in Manchester, Newcastle, or York.
- One full-time role based in Birmingham.
- One part-time role at 0.5 full-time equivalent based in Manchester.
This opportunity would suit candidates with experience in project delivery, grant-funded programmes, partnership working, community engagement, urban design, archaeology, or regeneration.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of place-based regeneration projects.
- Work closely with colleagues to plan, coordinate, and monitor programme activity.
- Build effective partnerships with local authorities, community organisations, charities, businesses, and public bodies.
- Support projects that use heritage and local assets to deliver wider social, economic, and community benefits.
- Assess, manage, and monitor grant-funded projects.
- Help ensure projects meet agreed objectives, budgets, timescales, and funding conditions.
- Work with grassroots and community-led organisations to identify local priorities and opportunities.
- Support the preparation of grant applications, funding recommendations, and project reports.
- Monitor project progress, risks, expenditure, and outcomes.
- Coordinate input from internal specialists and external partners.
- Contribute to project evaluation and help demonstrate the impact of investment.
- Support engagement activities with local communities and stakeholders.
- Advocate for the value of heritage and culture within regeneration and place-based programmes.
- Identify practical and creative solutions to project delivery challenges.
- Contribute to the development of new projects and targeted interventions.
- Prepare briefings, reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
- Represent the organisation at meetings, events, and partnership groups.
- Share learning and examples of good practice across teams and regions.

Requirements
Applicants will be assessed against the following essential criteria:
- Experience working in partnership with a range of organisations and stakeholders.
- Experience assessing, managing, or delivering grant-funded projects.
- Experience working with grassroots, voluntary, or community organisations.
- The ability to communicate the value of heritage, culture, or local assets within regeneration projects.
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
- The ability to solve problems and work creatively to achieve results.
- Experience managing deadlines, budgets, risks, or project outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
- A collaborative, practical, and outcome-focused approach.

Experience in regeneration, community development, archaeology, urban design, heritage, planning, or economic development would be beneficial.
