Project Officer – Sustainable Upland Collaboration Project

Location: Rhug Estate and surrounding upland project areas, Berwyn Moorland

Contract: Fixed term (July 2026 – September 2028)

Hours: Part-time – 3 days per week (approximately 21 hours per week)

Salary: £15.04 per hour

Start Date: Successful candidates should be available to commence employment as soon as possible to support project delivery from July 2026.

About the Role

Rhug Charitable Trust is seeking a highly organised and motivated Project Officer to support the delivery of the Sustainable Upland Collaboration Project, funded through the Welsh Government Integrated Natural Resources Scheme (INRS).

The Project Officer will work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate the day to day delivery of the project, supporting habitat restoration, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management across the Berwyn Moorland. The role will provide project coordination, stakeholder engagement, procurement support, monitoring and reporting to ensure the successful delivery of the project objectives and compliance with Welsh Government funding requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landscape-scale conservation project, working collaboratively with farmers, landowners, conservation organisations and local communities to deliver long-term environmental improvements whilst supporting sustainable farming businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics for capital works, habitat restoration activities, conservation works, training events, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist the Project Manager with procurement, competitive tendering, contractor management and day to day project administration.
  • Coordinate permits, licenses, consents and supporting documentation required for project activities.
  • Engage with landowners, farmers, local communities, and project stakeholders to support active participation and project delivery.
  • Facilitate partnership working with conservation organisations, local authorities, contractors, and other project partners.
  • Collect, manage and maintain project monitoring data and evidence to support project evaluation, reporting and compliance with Welsh Government funding requirements.
  • Coordinate training events, stakeholder meetings and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records, databases, and documentation to support compliance with Welsh Government funding requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and progress updates for Welsh Government officials and project partners.
  • Promote and support the use of the Welsh language in project delivery, engagement, and communications where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
