Key Requirements & Details
- English Proficiency: Candidates must speak English to a professional standard.
- Criminal Record Check: Basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check required.
- International Residency: You’ll need to explain any significant periods (6+ months in the last 3 years) living abroad.
- Police Vetting: Requires comprehensive police vetting, alongside the DBS check. Note: Not applicable to local government staff already subject to vetting regulations.
- Visa/Right to Work: All legal documentation (visa, etc.) must be provided prior to starting.
- Pensions Note: Existing pensions from local government careers may be affected if returning to this service; consult your pension authority.

Role Overview
You will be the Wellbeing Project Officer, guiding the implementation of the Evening and Night-Time Economy Delivery Plan. You’ll:
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate cross-sector activity: Work in tandem with:
- Barnsley Council departments (e.g., licensing, public health)
- South Yorkshire Police
- Local businesses, venues, and voluntary organisations
- Health and social care providers
- Gauge community insights: Use data, feedback, and intelligence to pinpoint hotspots and emerging risks.
- Combat crime: Proactively tackle:
- Violence & anti-social behaviour
- VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) holistically:
- Gang exploitation/vulnerability
- Drug-related crimes (e.g., spiking, bouncy.)
- Domestic abuse in night-time settings
- Monitor impact: Prepare reports, governance updates, and funding metrics for leadership teams.
- Advocate for safeguarding: Promote tough behaviours and support systems as part of evening/night activations.
Required Skills & Attributes
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven track record in:
- Project management, partnership working, or community development.
- Utilising quantitative/qualitative data to inform strategy and reporting.
- Deep awareness of:
- Community safety, safeguarding strategies
- Evening/night economy dynamics
- Trauma-informed practice and vulnerable population considerations
