About The Role

Title: Project Officer (Reporting)

Salary: £32,332 – £39,434 per annum (dependant on experience)

Location: Nottingham

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week

Travel to all YA offices will be required

York Archaeology delivers commercial archaeological services as part of York Archaeology (YA) from offices in York, Sheffield, and Nottingham. The organisation provides world-famous heritage attractions with excavation, survey, consultancy, expert conservation services, research, and an unmatched commitment to dissemination, engagement, and public benefit.

We require a Project Officer (Reporting) to assist with our Nottingham, Sheffield and occasionally our York reporting portfolios. Reporting to the Senior Post-excavation Manager, you will analyse complex stratigraphic, artefactual and environmental data to allow compilation, editing and dissemination of various report types to include evaluation, assessment and analysis reports to the highest standards and to agreed, and often restrictive budgets and timescales.

Permanent contracts are offered subject to satisfactory completion of a 3-month probation period.

Applicants will be based from our Nottingham office, but the post-holder will occasionally be expected to work from any of our three regional offices.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in archaeology or related discipline and an appropriate level of demonstrable experience
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles
  • Demonstrable experience (at least 5 years) of compilation and editing of a range of archaeological reports

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant discipline
  • CIfA membership would be advantageous but not essential
  • A period-based or technical specialism would be advantageous but not essential
