About Accidental Theatre

Accidental is an artist-led organisation and creative hub based in Belfast, offering support to independent artists and communities. We advocate for bold, experimental work across theatre, comedy, music, film, and digital arts creatively, fostering inclusive spaces for collaboration, risk-taking, and cultural expression through live and digital programming.

In 2025, we secured our building at 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, marking an exciting new era as we expand our projects. We’re seeking a Project Officer to drive this momentum forward.


About the Role

We’re hired an experienced, highly-motivated, conscientious, and relationship-focused Project Officer to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of our projects. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven project management experience, with a portfolio of successfully delivered projects
  • Demonstrate leadership, resourcefulness, and a collaborative spirit
  • Work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and external partners
  • Communicate progress to the Senior Management team
  • Manage daily project coordination (e.g., stand-ups, task tracking via Monday, Discord, Canva, and Google Docs)

Key Responsibilities

📌 Project Management & Delivery

  • Manage projects from initiation to completion
  • Develop, maintain, and adhere to project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Lead and coordinate the project team while aligning deliverables
  • Communicate status updates to stakeholders and key stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve risks and issues
  • Lead funding applications and post-project evaluation
  • Ensure timelines and budgets remain on track and aligned
  • Investigate process delays and refine workflows
  • Oversee the delivery of creative/community projects
  • Manage project documentation, including timelines, budgets, contracts, and reporting
  • Collaborate with artists, freelancers, and community partners
  • Address logistics for rehearsals, events, and touring
  • Support funding and accessibility evaluations (e.g., reports, data collection)

🎭 Artist & Community Support

  • Act as the primary liaison between Accidental Theatre, artists, and participants
  • Embed accessibility and inclusion in project planning
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and collaborative development sessions
  • Build and nurture creative partnerships

📍 Venue & Programme Coordination

  • Organise onsite project activities and events
  • Partner with the wider team on programming, marketing, and logistics
  • Support technical and front-of-house teams for seamless event execution

📊 Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation
  • Assist with funding applications and post-project reports
  • Represent Accidental Theatre at relevant sector events/networking

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven experience in producing or managing creative projects/events
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
  • Experience working with artists, freelancers, or community groups
  • Knowledge of budget management and reporting
  • Collaborative, problem-solving mindset
  • Commitment to inclusive, artist-led, and community-engaged work

Desirable:

  • Experience in theatre, performance, or digital arts
  • Understanding of arts funding (e.g., Arts Council, trusts)
  • Knowledge of producing in non-traditional/experimental spaces
  • Accessibility and safeguarding awareness
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel as needed

Contract & Location

📍 Location: 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast 🕒 Hours: Flexible (full-time or part-time available; 21–37.5 hrs/week) 🔄 Contract: 1-year (with potential extension) 💰 Salary: £24,000 – £28,000/annum (dependent on experience/working hours) ⚠️ Note: Some evening/weekend work may be required.
