Freelance Project Planner (Construction) Role

An excellent opportunity is available for a Freelance Project Planner (construction) to join a leading main contractor, where you will oversight and responsibility for the programme on a key major project based in the Leeds area.

Role Overview

The role will be involved in the early stages including pre-construction elements as this has a number of project phases, whilst picking up programmes already developed as some of the early stages are already in the delivery stage.

This role will work closely with the senior management team and will have direct interface with the project director, having responsibility for providing a project planning function across a mixture of live, tender, and development elements via the production of design, procurement, and construction programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Progress monitoring, analysis, and reporting against established project baselines.
  • Development of information release programmes and schedules.
  • Short-term construction planning including liaison with the supply chain / design team as appropriate.
  • Progress monitoring & review.
  • Recognise “Early Warnings” for potential delay and assist in mitigation strategies.
  • Identification of programme / buildability risk.
  • Integration of subcontractor programmes to form a detailed programme model.

Candidate Profile

To be considered for the role you should fit the following spec:

  • Have a proven track record operating within a similar Planning role in a main contractor environment on complex major projects of scale.
  • Be comfortable communicating at all levels, with the ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable with high levels of client interface.
  • Hold strong IT skills, including a range of planning software.
