About the Role
Are you ready to help shape the future of energy and defence? At GE Vernova Power Conversion & Storage, we’re pioneering more efficient and cleaner energy solutions across industries from naval fleets to industrial giants. We’re expanding our Portfolio Management Office and seek experienced Project Planners to join our Marine Defence programs.
This is a high-impact opportunity to play a critical role in planning and executing ambitious projects that deliver tangible outcomes in energy and defence.
Job Description
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Take full ownership of integrated project schedules across the entire lifecycle—from bid to contract closeout.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed schedules covering:
- Engineering
- Supply chain
- Manufacturing
- Site works
- Commissioning
- Drive alignment across project stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely milestones and transparent visibility.
- Create and manage baseline plans, perform schedule updates, and support contract change control processes.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the key planning liaison in customer and internal meetings, delivering clear and confident schedule presentations.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to review contractual scheduling terms and progress reporting requirements.
- Lead schedule impact assessments for variation orders and internal change controls.

Schedule Risk Management
- Identify risks and opportunities early, proposing proactive mitigation strategies to protect project timelines.
- Provide Project Managers with “early warning” alerts and recovery plans to minimise cost and schedule exposure.
- Conduct critical path and “what-if” analyses to assess project resilience and optimise execution paths.
Earned Value & Reporting
- Generate Earned Value Analysis (EVA) outputs for data-driven project assessments.
- Monitor and report progress to internal and external stakeholders with clarity, transparency, and rigor.
Requirements
- Proven experience in project planning for complex engineering programs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced matrix environment.
- Strong understanding of PMI or similar methodologies, with knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in:
- Primavera P6
- Microsoft Project
- Advanced MS Excel (PivotTables, macros, data analysis)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident and professional approach to stakeholder engagement.
- Strong organizational and prioritisation skills.

Security Clearance:
- Higher levels of UK Security Clearance, including "SC Clearance", are mandatory. The candidate must have existing clearance or the ability to obtain it.
What Makes You Stand Out?
✔ Experience in marine, defence, or complex industrial sectors. ✔ Demonstrated ability to:
- Build, baseline, and assess project schedules
- Perform critical path and cost-loading analyses
- Manage EOT (Extension of Time) and acceleration claims ✔ Knowledge of concurrent delay analysis and schedule risk management. ✔ Experience mentoring cross-functional teams and junior colleagues in best practices.
