Job: Programme / Project Manager - Strategic PMO - Hybrid

Type: 12 month FTC

Start: ASAP

Location: Central London

Salary: up to £ 50,000 pa

We’re seeking a Strategic Projects & PMO Lead to drive the delivery, governance and reporting of a portfolio of high-profile strategic projects. Someone who thrives on bringing structure, clarity and momentum to complex organisational initiatives. This is a pivotal role for someone who can combine strong project leadership with the ability to build and embed best-practice programme management processes across an organisation.

The Role

Working closely with senior leadership, you will oversee the planning, tracking and successful delivery of strategic initiatives, ensuring projects remain aligned to organisational priorities, budgets and desired outcomes. You will also play a key role in establishing and developing a Project Management Office (PMO), improving project governance, reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery, oversight and reporting of a portfolio of strategic projects.
  • Maintain organisation-wide project roadmaps, milestones, dependencies and risk registers.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts and expenditure, working closely with finance teams.
  • Develop high-quality reporting, dashboards and performance updates for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage project governance, identifying risks and driving mitigation plans.
  • Enhance project management methodologies, tools and processes across the organisation.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of project management systems and platforms.
  • Coach and support colleagues involved in project delivery to build organisational capability.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

About You

  • Proven experience managing complex strategic projects or programmes.
  • Experience establishing or developing PMO functions, frameworks or delivery disciplines.
  • Strong financial management and budget oversight skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Highly organised, analytical and solutions-focused.
  • Skilled at coordinating multiple workstreams, priorities and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in evolving environments and navigating complexity.
  • Experience within education, skills, public sector, charity, creative industries or similar environments would be advantageous.
