Project Quantity Surveyor (Rail & Civil Engineering)
Location: Pontyclun, South Wales
Shape the Future of Rail Infrastructure in Wales
We are seeking an experienced Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team, supporting the delivery of impactful rail and civil engineering projects across Wales.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a diverse portfolio of works, including rail infrastructure, bridges, stations, platforms, tunnels, embankments, highways, and environmental projects.

The Opportunity
As a Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take ownership of the commercial management across multiple rail and civil engineering projects, typically worth £500k–£5m. Collaborating with operational teams, you’ll ensure projects are delivered profitably, on time, and in compliance with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial management of projects and work packages
- Prepare and submit accurate valuations, estimates, and payment applications
- Resolve client-facing commercial issues and manage relationships with stakeholders, supply chain partners, and clients
- Collaborate with Site Managers and Project Managers to track costs, progress, risks, and(tick) procurement, subcontract payments, and contract compliance under NEC and bespoke Network Rail contracts
- Manage change events, compensation events, and early warnings
- Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reports
- Support project forecasting, final accounts, and reviews
- Drive continuous improvement across the commercial function
About You
We’re looking for applicants with:
- Significant experience in Quantity Surveying or Project Quantity Surveying, with expertise in rail and civil engineering
- A relevant degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
- Proven experience delivering projects such as rail infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, or civil structures
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and bespoke Network Rail contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and contract management skills
- Effective negotiation and stakeholder management expertise
- Ability to multi-task projects/priorities in a dynamic environment
- A collaborative mindset focused on high-quality outcomes
