As a Project Security Consultant, your work will help protect critical projects by ensuring cyber security risks are identified, managed and reported effectively throughout the project lifecycle. The role may involve a blended hybrid working model, combining home working with time on site to support close collaboration with project teams, senior stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
We are seeking a Project Security Consultant to act as the focal point for project security, providing advice, guidance and assurance to key stakeholders, with particular focus on supporting the Senior Responsible Owner.
The role is focused on ensuring project security is planned, governed and evidenced in line with contractual requirements, Company policy and customer expectations. You will support the management of project security risks, maintain key security artefacts, coordinate assurance activity and help promote a positive security culture across the project.
Role summary
The Project Security Consultant will provide project-focused security governance, assurance and risk management support across UK programmes. Acting as a key security point of contact, the role will help ensure security requirements are understood, implemented, evidenced and reported throughout the project lifecycle, while supporting effective collaboration between project teams, functional security specialists, suppliers and customer stakeholders.

What you will do as a Project Security Consultant

- Act as the focal point for all security issues relating to the project, providing advice and guidance to key stakeholders in support of the Senior Responsible Owner.
- Identify, measure, record and manage project security risks on behalf of the Senior Responsible Owner, ensuring risks are understood, tracked and escalated where appropriate.
- Produce and maintain project security artefacts, including the Security Management Plan and Security Risk Register, ensuring they remain current, proportionate and aligned to project requirements.
- Support compliance with contractual security requirements and internal and external security audit activity, including the collation of evidence for gate reviews and security cases.
- Validate third-party compliance against project contractual requirements and oversee supplier risk assurance activity in collaboration with procurement, business security and relevant technical teams.
- Provide security reporting for project governance boards, KPIs, senior dashboards and assurance reviews, ensuring security status, risks, issues and actions are communicated clearly.
- Support project and programme governance by ensuring security requirements, risks, dependencies, actions and decisions are identified, tracked and reported through appropriate project boards and gate review processes.
- Maintain visibility of security obligations across the project lifecycle, ensuring contractual, regulatory and policy requirements are translated into practical project security activities and assurance evidence.
- Work with the Project Manager, Programme Manager and functional leads to ensure security actions, dependencies and residual risks are understood, owned and managed in line with project delivery priorities.
