A Little More About The Role
WSP’s Project Security Managers sit within the Security Management function, delivering security assurance to all projects within their respective government sectors—such as Defence, Nuclear, or other government departmental areas. They ensure the complete security assurance for all prospects and projects, safeguarding clients’ most sensitive assets.
As a Project Security Manager, you will:
- Provide excellent security assurance services to clients
- Identify improvements to existing security programmes and processes
- Manage classified project delivery across Personnel, Physical, and Information Security domains
- Act as the focal point for security assurance in your designated sector, offering targeted guidance and direction
Key Responsibilities
- Regular liaison with client security and project teams to interpret, implement, and monitor contractual security requirements (e.g., Security Aspects Letters / SALs)
- Support security accreditation and certification for external compliance demands within your sector
- Develop and implement governance and processes for security assurance
- Plan and deliver assurance activities, including:
- Induction briefings
- Project-specific security briefings
- Supplier onboarding
- Security awareness training
- Measure and assess performance and effectiveness of security controls, implementing correktive actions and improvements
- Review the competencies of WSP’s supply chain in Personnel, Physical, and Information Security
- Collaborate with business areas to identify, manage, and mitigate risks to WSP and its clients
- Support the development and maturity of WSP’s Security Management System
- Conduct investigations for security incidents, including near misses, within your sector

What We Will Be Looking For
To excel in this role, we seek candidates with the following:
- Hold or have the ability to obtain SC (Security) clearance
- Desirable: Experience as a security manager or security controller in a regulated sector (e.g., Defence/Nuclear)
- Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of HMG security documentation (e.g., GovS:007), frameworks, policy, and controls
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence peers and senior stakeholders on project security compliance
- Knowledge of risk management methodologies and practical application
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload under tight deadlines
- A highly motivated, driven individual displaying a flexible and adaptable approach
