At Emtec Energy, we’re delivering renewable energy solutions across Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage and grid connection projects, helping businesses move towards a more sustainable future.
As our project portfolio continues to grow, we’re looking for a Project Support Engineer to join the team and provide technical, operational and site-based support across the full project lifecycle.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll support projects from early surveys and design development through construction, commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance.
The Role
As Project Support Engineer, you’ll work across our Pre-Construction, Delivery, Commissioning and O&M teams, helping to keep projects moving safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You’ll be involved in site surveys, technical assessments, subcontractor supervision, inspections, testing, commissioning support, maintenance and fault-finding activities across commercial and utility-scale renewable energy assets.
The role is predominantly site-based and would suit someone with a strong electrical background who enjoys variety, problem solving and being close to the delivery of projects on site.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out site surveys for Solar PV, BESS and grid connection projects
- Gathering technical site information to support feasibility, design and estimating activity
- Reviewing electrical infrastructure, site constraints, access requirements and CDM considerations
- Supporting project mobilisation, construction delivery and technical issue resolution on site
- Supervising subcontractors and specialist installers where required
- Carrying out quality inspections and reporting on defects, non-conformances and corrective actions
- Assisting with electrical testing and commissioning activities
- Supporting planned maintenance, fault-finding and corrective works on operational renewable energy assets
- Producing survey, inspection, commissioning and maintenance reports
- Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with RAMS, CDM, electrical safety standards and company procedures
- Liaising with clients, consultants, DNOs, ICPs, subcontractors and internal teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
