About the Role

Alstom UK is seeking a Project Maintenance Support Specialist to coordinate fleet maintenance for the Caledonian Sleeper (CS) Project, optimising operational reliability while strengthening collaboration between Alstom and the Caledonian Sleeper teams.

Salaried Role: c. £60K (plus benefits) | Location: Wembley (Onsite)


Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Maintenance Coordination:
    • Advise and optimise Alstom’s fleet maintenance processes, driving measurable improvements
  • Stakeholder Liaison:
    • Establish clear communication channels between Alstom maintenance teams and Caledonian Sleeper Engineering
    • Manage technical question flow and expedite Alstom’s responses
  • Documentation & Procedure Development:
    • Maintain/revise Alstom fleet check/test procedures to align with Caledonian Sleeper requirements
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making:
    • Analyse Alstom maintenance data to support performance optimisation
    • Generate monthly reliability/performance reports
  • Testing & Investigations:
    • Oversee fleet checks/testing matching Calgary’s specifications
    • Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and technical investigations of coach failures
  • Innovative Problem-Solving:
    • Engage Caledonian Sleeper teams to develop solutions for technical failures
    • Contribute to reliability & performance improvement initiatives

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Extensive background in rail fleet maintenance and support
  • Understanding of rail maintenance standards (advantageous)

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Engineering or related fields at HNC level or equivalent

Competencies

  • Highly analytical with a problem-solving approach; self-motivated team player
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Expertise in:
    • Technical analysis & continuous improvement methodologies
    • Root cause analysis & maintenance procedure development
  • Health & Safety (H&S) compliance fundamental to all tasks
  • Commitment to deadlines, cost efficacy, and quality standards
  • Proven ability to manage data analysis/interpretation and reporting
